Mixtures

2012

This album highlights the extraordinary versatility of the pipe organ, “the king of instruments.” It portrays a variety of timbres and technical prowess—displaying its wide expressive range—and hints at the organ’s role as the precursor of sound design in more recent years.

“Mixtures” is both the name of the album and the name of one of the stops (represented by a knob) on the organ console. This stop called “Mixtures” consists of multiple pipes designed to add brightness to any combination of sounds the organist uses for numerous pieces in the organ repertoire.
