Points of Light One

Separated into two albums, Points of Light is an audio convergence demonstrating the remarkable nuances and variety within collective expression. Every song was created in collaboration with a single individual and acts as a musical distillation of that person’s distinct way of being. When one or both albums are heard altogether, the listener begins to hear the symphony of individuals as a single work, like a symphony of musicians each playing their part to create something singularly beautiful.

Each song was improvised on the piano after an initial "discovery conversation” with the individual—a one-on-one session that explored their essential nature. The improvisations were then recorded and later transcribed into music scores. The original purpose for creating them was twofold:

• To anchor, deepen and remind each person of their essential nature

• To understand how, as leaders, a person can influence others with their gifts

To offer a cohesive set, Maryliz selected 24 of these songs with permission from each individual and divided them thoughtfully between the two albums. Many thanks to all who gave so much of themselves to the creative process.
