Counseling

Maryliz sees clients who are:

  • -Living with cancer or other life-threatening illness
  • -Adults moving through life transitions
  • -Youth and teens facing divorce in their families
  • -Families living with loss because of death

Maryliz Smith is dedicated to creating a safe, caring, learning environment for those people who are seeking ways to improve their quality of life physically, emotionally and spiritually. With a customized approach, a choice of methods is used to encourage people to become conscious of the issues that affect the way they might approach their life and face their death, and to ultimately know who they are and what they have to offer.

Maryliz uses the following tools in the process of personal transformation:

Transformational Hypnotherapy is a heart-centered method used to discover our inner resources. These resources allow the possibility to integrate issues that are important for recovery and growth. The origin of hypnotherapy comes from shamanic healing techniques of indigenous cultures. It acknowledges the possibility of the client being affected by non-ordinary states of being, having these states directly influence the healing process.

Sandplay is an expressive play tool used by children, adolescents, adults, families, couples and groups. Miniature images, sand and water become the field of expression for the human consciousness as clients create patterns, worlds, and/or dramatic play processes in the sandtray. Such play create shared visions and community with others.

Attunement is an energetic healing art and spiritual practice. It sees the human body as dynamic and self-healing. This no-touch process is one that connects with the systems of the body directly through contact points from various ancient traditions. Attunement enlivens, restores and renews, allowing health and well-being to be experienced on very deep and fundamental levels.

Sounding awakens resonating fields in people physically, emotionally, and spiritually. A wide range of acoustic instruments from various cultures is used improvisationally, as well as "deep listening" practices which develop a person's ability to be comfortable in the unknown.
