Maryliz
Smith is an international performance artist, composer and music
educator. Her recent years as a keyboardist have been devoted to
composing and performing challenging new works that explore the
instrument's textures and timbres. As a concert organist, she has
studied with some of the greatest European organists: Marie-Claire
Alain, Anton Heiller, Gillian Weir and Luigi Tagliavini. As a composer,
her current compositions focus on multi-disciplinary works using
graphic scores and ritual.

In
other fields, Ms. Smith is a practicing transformational hypnotherapist,
as well as a spiritual counselor, sound therapist, and attunement
practitioner. She is co-facilitator of
Callanish Healing Retreats,
a nonprofit organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia where
she travels regularly to residential retreats for people living
with cancer. Recent workshop endeavors include "Praying with Our
Ears," and "The Healing Nature of Sound and Music," both courses
designed to enable individuals to be inventive, daring, self-expressing
people.
