About the Artist

Maryliz Smith is an international performance artist, composer and music educator. Her recent years as a keyboardist have been devoted to composing and performing challenging new works that explore the instrument's textures and timbres. As a concert organist, she has studied with some of the greatest European organists: Marie-Claire Alain, Anton Heiller, Gillian Weir and Luigi Tagliavini. As a composer, her current compositions focus on multi-disciplinary works using graphic scores and ritual.

In other fields, Ms. Smith is a practicing transformational hypnotherapist, as well as a spiritual counselor, sound therapist, and attunement practitioner. She is co-facilitator of Callanish Healing Retreats, a nonprofit organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia where she travels regularly to residential retreats for people living with cancer. Recent workshop endeavors include "Praying with Our Ears," and "The Healing Nature of Sound and Music," both courses designed to enable individuals to be inventive, daring, self-expressing people.
